Looking for bell mounting

Postby skip » Wed May 28, 2008 7:48 pm

I'm interested in a mount for a bell. I think it might be called a cradle?

We have an old (19th century) bronze bell that was used on my wife's farm here in Ohio. It's about 20 inches in diameter, and the hanger has the large wheel on one side for a rope.

We would like to display the bell (and have it ready to ring, since it has a beautiful tone), but I haven't been able to find a mount for it. I could make one, but it would be nice to have something actually made for this purpose.

I would sure appreciate any tips on where to find one.

Do you have apicture or information concerning the manufacturer? These would be helpful to our readers as mountings were somewhat unique to each manufacturer.

Please look at the May 3 post in this forum which is by Todd Lower. He refers you to his website. He has bell parts made to his specifications and I have purchased from him before. -- Neil
I collect U.S. church and fire tower bells and research the foundries which made them.
