Fredericktown, Ohio, No. 2 Bell

Postby admin » Sun Oct 07, 2007 7:39 pm

Peggy asks:

We have a bell which has been in our Ohio family for several generations and are trying to find out more about its history, etc. It is a No. 2 bell with Fredericktown, Ohio on the yoke, We have been told that the metal is extremely good quality.

We know it was hanging in our relative’s yard up until 1949 when it went to my grandfather, Orville Aller.

Is there a way we could find out more about the bell’s probable history? Thanks. Peggy

Although we can't give Peggy the history of the previous owners of her bell, perhaps there's someone out there who can give her some information about the maker of her bell. Kindly post this information for all to see, if possible! Thanks.

All I can tell you is that there is a 40" diameter bell by this firm in the town square of Panora, Iowa, and it is made of cast iron.

To confuse things, there was also a Fredricktown (all one word & a different spelling), Pa bell firm also. -- Neil
I collect U.S. church and fire tower bells and research the foundries which made them.
