Puritan Bell - Information Please

Postby cegs » Thu May 17, 2012 2:52 am

I have a Puritan Bell with the date of 1622 engraved on it. I tried to upload pictures but was unable to. The bell has a wire with a nut as the ringer. The diameter is 5" and the height is 4 3/4". A magnet does not stick to it. It has a beautiful, loud ring. Does anyone have knowledge of this bell? I appreciate any information offered.

Welcome Cegs!

Usually, if the images don't load it's because they are in the wrong format or are too large.
I find they should be about 300k to go cleanly.

I am including a photo below, is this the type of bell you have?

If so, I'd like to direct your attention to the search line in the blue bar at the top right of this window.
Type in either Puritan or Colonial and click search.
We have a number of articles on this site on these bells!

Again, Welcome!

Garry

These bells were cast in East Hampton, CT by either the Gong Bell Co, or the NN Hill Manufacturing Co in the late 19th Century through the early 20th Century.
