Scholarship/Grant
for the Study, Restoration or
Research of Bells

The American Bell Association International, Inc., through its Educational Endowment Fund, has grant money available for the purpose of furthering the education of the public in the study, restoration, or research of bells in order to preserve their historical significance in relation to the world’s heritage. The amount of the grant shall not exceed the annual proceeds of the Educational Endowment Fund (currently about $1,000).

Individuals who wish to apply for a grant should submit, in writing, a detailed description of the proposed project, budget, and any background information that may be of value to the Educational Board during its selection process.

Perkins School for the Blind receives grant from the American Bell Association

Image: handbell ringing is an integral part of the curriculumThe Educational Endowment Board of the American Bell Association International, Inc. has announced the recipient of its 2007 award in the amount of $2,000 to the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Massachusetts. The grant will be used to provide new travel cases for the school's handbells.

"All we see is possibility" is the philosophy of the Perkins School for the Blind. According to Adele Trytko, Handbell Director for the school, handbell ringing is an integral part of the curriculum. Trytko says the handbell ringing is essential for developing aural, motor, social, and training skills.

"The benefits contained in the handbell ringing program have proven to be beneficial in the educational environment," says Trytko. "It is but one phase of educating those with special needs and provides another perspective to possibility in helping students reach their full potential. We at Perkins are most grateful for the generosity of the American Bell Association. My sincere thank you to the organization for you suppport of bells."

The ABA's Educational Endowment Board administers the distribution of the Educational Endowment Fund for the purpose of furthering the education of the public in bells and to preserve their historical significance.
