Perkins School for the Blind receives
grant from the American Bell Association
The Educational Endowment Board of
the American Bell Association International, Inc. has announced the recipient of
its 2007 award in the amount of $2,000 to the Perkins School for the Blind in
Watertown, Massachusetts. The grant will be used to provide new travel cases for
the school's handbells.
"All we see is possibility" is the
philosophy of the Perkins School for the Blind. According to Adele Trytko,
Handbell Director for the school, handbell ringing is an integral part of the
curriculum. Trytko says the handbell ringing is essential for developing aural,
motor, social, and training skills.
"The benefits contained in the
handbell ringing program have proven to be beneficial in the educational
environment," says Trytko. "It is but one phase of educating those with special
needs and provides another perspective to possibility in helping students reach
their full potential. We at Perkins are most grateful for the generosity of the
American Bell Association. My sincere thank you to the organization for you
suppport of bells."
