    Can anyone help me identify this bell?

    Weighs 20 lbs
    9.5″ tall
    9.5″ diameter
    No markings except “USN”

    Hi Is it iron or brass. During ww2 copper was a shortage and CS Bell co. made iron bells that would do the job for reaching distances. They were loud and much needed on the high seas. The US Navy made a business agreement with the present owner Virginia Bell Thompson back then for CS Bell Co to make Navy ship bells of iron which was cheaper but did the job well. Prior to that, they were made of brass.
